Fourth Wall goes professional! Invited by Mckinsey and CO. to perform for their clients @ LAVAASA!

Fourth Wall, the dramatics club of IIT Bombay is certainly acquiring new heights!
We were recently approached by the very renowned McKinsey and CO.  to perform a street play for the corporate junta.

It was basically a part of a 3 day event organized by McKinsey and Co. for their clients, at Lavaasa (a beautiful, planned hill station) where they invited top 150 managers from a leading national bank. Mckinsey was promoting some of there new fundaes for the banking sectors. To drive these points home with greater impact, they were looking for some cultural associations to the theme and wanted us to present these concepts through our medium of street plays to promote this MINDSHIFT

They wanted the team to first give a demo to see if we had what they were looking for.
They loved our concept and performance such that they requested us to prepare not one but two plays.
And so the team packed their bags to a fully paid trip to Lavasa to perform.

Writers:

  • Gabbar – Ashish
  • Kataria
  • Chandan
  • Samarth Mohan

Actors:

  • Gabbar – Ashish
  • Samarth mohan
  • Richa Gwalani
  • Mayank Mangal

Music:

The performance was really appreciated by the audience there who were certainly in for a surprise with this new medium of awareness spreading.
The team too enjoyed their stay there with wonderful hospitality from their side.

In all the trip was a truely awesome experience and certainly a “Once in a lifetime experience“.

Mahindra AQ Event Report

The Mahindra Auto Quotient (AQ), a quiz based on automobiles was conducted on 7th September. The event, sponsored and conducted by the Mahindra Group, saw participation from over 50 teams from various engineering colleges across Mumbai. This was the zonal competition, the winners of which go to the Nationals. The National winners get an all expenses paid trip to the Geneva Auto Show. 4 teams made it to the zonal finals. Although no IIT team qualified for the finals, the organizers were generous in giving Tshirts and bags as audience prizes. Every IITian present went home with a gift (Seriously.) Some even got more than the finalists. Overall it was a lucrative event.

Monoacting @ Freshiezza

5th September, 2010
Yoga Room

Some acted, some mimed, some narrated while the some did mimicry as the audience admired. The freshies displayed a mixed bag of all possible forms of monoacting in the their very first prepared dramatics competition – Monoacting.  Monoacting’s purpose was to give freshies a platofrm to display their acting, by taking the stage for 5 minutes completely to themselves. The event saw 35 entries, way more than anticipated such that the venue had to be changed due to shortage of time availability. The entire event was judged by a very patient Kataria, who sat there for almost four hours marking and giving comments to each and every performance.

Overall, another successful event pulled off which brought to light some really talented freshies! Hoping to see them perform at bigger stages soon.

Group Impromptu Dramatics @ Freshiezza

Group Impromptu Dramatics

4th September, 2010, Yoga Room

Sell a refrigerator to an Eskimo? Bobby darling ka swayamwar? Huh? What?!
Yes, freshies were in for a real surprise as they picked up their topics for group impromptu dramatics, the first of the dramatics events at Freshiezza this year.  It was greeted with an overwhelming response with around 25 freshie teams i.e. around 150 freshies participated. The funda was simple – form teams of 6, pick a topic (which was a real weird yet funny situation), have a preparation time of just 5 minutes and go PERFORM! Well, the format being totally spontaneous, gave everyone an equal chance and hence saw participation from freshies who have never acted in their life and also never thought they would. The event was judged by our seniors Gabbar (Ashish) and Richa. Hostel 3 bagged the first place followed by Hostel 4 and Hostel 2 in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. The event saw an significant rise in the number of girls participating with 18 girls taking part this year as compared to only 4 last year.
Overall the event was successful in its motive of allowing freshies to get a flavour of dramatics @ IITB.

Face Painting @ Freshiezza 5th September

Like every year, face painting proved to be a hit again. It was a crowd of 86 and about 50 faces were painted. It started off with distribution of paints and brushes o the junta and there were two themes given to choose from – ‘Wildlife’ and ‘Angels and Demons’. Vikas, Jim, Pinkesh, Priyanka, Shuchi and Yashaswi got the event started by handling the registrations and material distribution.

Joyjeet and Akvil gave some initial fundae on face painting to the freshers so as to get them going with the painting. Joyjeet once again was there all throughout for guiding us during the course of the event, be it deciding the themes or finally judging the entries. Ashwini, Akvil and Vikas not only were present but also had a hand in enthusing the participants by themselves getting involved in painting.

In the end, Tejashree, Richa and Joy had a tough time in choosing the top 3 out of the 43 odd teams that had come to participate in the event. On organizational front, there was a small issue of shortage of materials due to more than expected turn out. However, it was covered up immediately before a major fall out happened.

Thanks to Tejashree, Richa, Joyjeet, Akvil and Ashwini for being there to make sure everything went flawless and kudos to all the hostel PFA secretaries and club conveners for organizing yet another successful event.
