First “On a Roll”

Last thursday Staccato kicked off with this years on a roll with a more-than-expected audience :-).On a rolls are basically informal jamming sessions conducted in hostel messes, lounges, lawns etc. Staccato aims at carrying the ‘band’wagon to different hostels through on a rolls. H4 lounge was chosen as the venue mainly to ensure our freshers enthusiastically participate in the upcoming Freshizza Music events. We saw a Freshie band from H4 relive punk rock by covering Green Day. Other prepared performances included Fade to Black , Stars by Switchfoot, Scar Tissue, Comfortably Numb, Smoke on the good old water etc. Apart from these, impromptu jamming was also thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. We hope to be coming to other hostels soon.

Surbahar Auditions!!!

Surbahar is the biggest musical fest that the students of IIT Bombay organize and perform in. It is a mixture of musical talent from across all hostels, all batches and all departments. The performance on the convocation stage is the culmination of long and enjoyable sessions of practices. But the journey through Surbahar is not just this one grand performance on stage; it is also about the bonding that the many musicians share while discovering and performing music.

Auditions for the Big Showtime are being held on Monday at 8pm.

Vocals auditions are happening in the SAC Yoga Room and Instrumental auditions in the Music Room.

We hope to see a grand turnout. Auditions are compulsory for all.

Saaz Conveners

Saaz & Staccato Orientation

The orientations for Saaz and Staccato were held on the 13th of August at the SAC Yoga Room. The orientation saw a huge turnout and the yoga room was filled to capacity. The orientation included performances alternating between Saaz and Staccato. There were 2 very good freshie performances, from H4 and H2. The bands performing in Malhar (which has qualified to the finals 🙂 ) and Umang also showcased their performances. The performances were enjoyed by all. The conveners doled out fundae about Inter-college fests, GCs, institute-wide music events and forming bands and jamming with batch-mates and seniors.

The pics will be uploaded soon. The link will be put up here.
