GBM Report and QnA

Hey Everyone,

Please find attached the report for cultural activities conducted during the academic year. We would request you to please read the report. We feel that this academic year has been fruitful for cultural activities with many good things happening in the institute and great performances at venues outside. There are other avenues where we may have fallen short, though not for lack of hard work. We would request you to contribute and provide feedback to ensure continuous improvement.

It is also our responsibility to provide the explanations that were asked of us at GBM, to the entire community, many of whom were not present at the GBM and are entitled to the answers their representative sought. There are two files attached with this mail. The ppt is a report of the work done by the Council over the past year, and the document contains an explanation for various points of my manifesto, and other questions received during the GBM.

We admit that while the manifesto has been used as a strong guiding tool, some decisions were taken in real time with opinions of the entire council. This was often to accommodate the new developments that were accounted for after the time the manifesto was initially made. To make up for the deficit, new initiatives were undertaken and past ventures consolidated that weren’t a part of the original manifesto.

Do accept our apologies for the delay in putting the report up.
Additionally, it is our humble request that you send your valuable feedback directly to the  respective secretaries and myself.

Bollywood Night – The Night that was…

Bollywood Night

The first institute social event of the year! And a massive turnout it was!

General opinion was that it was a very well-set event. Machaxxx by Ishan Shrivastava and Nidhi!

People found the elims very good. The rounds in the finals were awesome – the variations in the rounds made it interesting.

The Rounds in the Finals were:

1 )Bollywood Controversies Round: The Round was relating Bollwood Controversies and Amul Ads.

2) Antakshari Round: There were 2 Antakshari rounds, one of them which had betting incorporated. This was enjoyed by a lot of participants.

3) Dance Round: This round had dance videos shown on the screen, and the participants had to dance to them. The most entertaining round(maybe not for the participants!)

4)DumbC: The Bollywood Night would have been incomplete without a Dumb Charades round, and it did not disappoint.

Great End to a Great Night!

The winners were Siddha, Vinod and Siddharth. They won vouchers worth Rs.1500 from toubebas.com, a T-shirt design startup of IIT alumni. Bhavna, Gouri, Eeshan and Archana came second. So overall the event was a great success and an awesome start to the social events.

Institute Comedy Central

Hey Everyone!

We are pleased to announce the commencement of Institute Comedy Central. Comedy Central, as the name suggests, will be a comedy show comprised of comedy videos made by insti junta. Around 3-4 videos will be fused to make one show every 15 days which will be showcased at the immediately next movie screening/cultural event held in LT. Along with the video making, Institute Comedy Central will also be extended to comic strip making. The best entry apart from winning prizes in both English and Hindi will be printed in Insight and Aawaaz respectively in their next editions.

The theme for the first show/comic strip is Movie Spoof. Entries can range from a fundoo explanation for Inception to spoofing the great old heroes like Shahrukh, Amitabh or Gabbar Singh. You may even have super heroes like Shaktiman, Batman or even Harry Potter as your victims. All you need to do is to choose a situation and make it funny with the involvement of some known characters or through establishing the resemblance to some movie/tv series scene. The main criteria for selection of the video/comic strip would be creativity and the comic element and thus no specific knowledge of filmmaking is essential.

The best 2 entries for the 1st episode/strip will win gift vouchers worth INR 1000. Also, top 10 entries in both the competitions shall be awarded treats by respective hostel cult cos.

All videos will be uploaded on the Youtube Channel : http://www.youtube.com/silverscreeniitb

All comic strips will be shared on DC.

You can submit your videos/comic strip till 10th September to the address iitbsilverscreen@gmail.com . If you have problems sending the file or for any further guidance/help/inquiry, please contact :
